About Saga of the Jewels:

“From the very first chapter I was hooked. I just could not stop reading. I think I started somewhere around 9pm and didn't get to sleep until around 5am because I just had to know what happened next.”

-Reader ‘BansheeSerenade’, via FFN

“Saga of the Jewels is really good.”

-Lord Lavak, via Reddit

“a work of high fantasy, its tone and pacing very much suggesting the influence of fantasy RPGs such as Dungeons & Dragons… briskly paced and action-packed..a punchy fantasy adventure.”

-professional editor Jonathan Oliver

It’s a free fantasy email serial and podcasted audio serial!

Twelve heroes team up together to gather the Elemental Jewels and defeat the Evil Emperor, but lose. How did they get to this point, and what happens next?

Influences include LOTR & GOT (of course), The Chronicles of Prydain, The Darkwater Legacy, Tales of the Ketty Jay, The Cinder Spires, Codex Alera, sword and sorcery, progression fantasy, DnD, TTRPGs and board games, Star Wars, The Legend of Zelda, Avatar: The Last Airbender, JRPGs in general and the Final Fantasy series in particular, among many other things!

Elemental magic system? Check!

Multi-POV ensemble cast with banter? Check!

Steampunk skypirates, bossy princesses and susbtance-abusing assassins? Check!

It’s basically like a Final Fantasy game in novelised form.

One fat chapter a month. If it’s a new month, a new chapter is out! Hate reading? Listen instead!

There’s also a ‘Previously on Saga of the Jewels…’ story-so-far summary at the start of every episode, so you can jump on anywhere you want.

Or if you like it you can also, you know, start at the beginning and binge...

Please let me know if you enjoy it :)

About Faenon:

I’m a writer and indie author based in Oxford, UK.

I use a pseudonym because I’m also a high school Philosophy, Psychology and Religion teacher and I don’t want potential employers to know that I write, er, quite so much...

However, now that you’ve found me, I’m happy to link you to my stuff:

-I’ve had some short stories published online, in competitions and in magazines

-I’ve indie-published some novels

-including one I wrote for a mentorship with The Literary Consultancy, London, which is also available as an audiobook

-I’ve also written for two indie videogames, THE CEREBRAL SYMPHONY and CLARENT SAGA: CHRONICLES.

I hope you enjoy my work!

Why fantasy books?

I don’t know. Books have always been my preferred source of relaxation, and fantasy has always been my preferred flavour of fiction. It started with fairy tales and the Book of Revelation. I read THE HOBBIT around age 8. My Dad gave me a copy of THE COLOUR OF MAGIC by Terry Pratchett when I was 10 and I read through most of the Discworld series as a teenager. HIS DARK MATERIALS, NARNIA, THE LORD OF THE RINGS, THE EARTHSEA QUARTET, THE CHRONICLES OF PRYDAIN, GAME OF THRONES, THE KINGKILLER CHRONICLE all followed. I’ve now read at least one book by most of the big fantasy authors. It’s always been fantasy books. If you like them too, hop on board!
